Preseason · before the draft
Pick 11 in a 24-team snake — the West starts now.
We hold pick 11 of 24. In a 15-round snake that is not a premium open and not a late-round stack: we take one early, then sit while twenty-seven names come off before we speak again at 38. That gap is the first-round problem. Elite running backs occupy the top three on this board by VORP, with Jahmyr Gibbs, Christian McCaffrey, and Bijan Robinson well clear of the next tier. Four wideouts sit immediately behind them. We will not pretend we know who is left at 11; we only know the turn after that is long.
The West is the room we have to live in. OSS Outlaws pick fifth and Fable Fates pick seventh, so both get a cleaner first bite than we do. We open against Luna Lunatics, who pick last, then go to the Outlaws in week 2. Weeks 1 through 5 are all division games. If we stumble early, the West already has film. We see Fable Fates in week 5 and again in week 14, which we read as a late-season measuring stick, not a reunion.
A 24-team league with nine starters and a one-DST cap is a scarcity machine. Replacement-level at every skill spot is worse than a 12-team room, FAAB is $100 with no leftover value, and the wire will not save a thin bench. Our job in this draft is not to collect stars in a vacuum. It is to leave fifteen rounds with a legal, healthy starting nine and enough depth that one bye does not zero a slot. That is the roster-building problem. We intend to solve it before kickoff, not after.
